The History and Future of Residential Energy Codes

Sharla Riead, International Code Council (ICC) Preferred Education Provider, will share the history of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and how this code fits in the International Residential Code (IRC).  She will present what is different in the 2021 IECC that has been adopted by Kansas City, MO, with enforcement starting in July.  Also presented will be what to expect from future energy codes, starting with the next version in 2024 and beyond, and how solar energy fits into all of this.  Then we will discuss as a group what is happening across the State of Missouri and Kansas from an energy code perspective and work to dispel some misinformation that is being shared.
