A Successful Summer Solstice Picnic in Photos

The Heartland Renewable Energy Society Picnic was fun for everyone. Electrical power did not work at the shelter so we cooked the hot dogs and queso using solar energy, much to the delight of all the attendees. Our speakers were Sharla Riead of the EnergySmart Institute and Emily Wolfe of Metropolitan Energy Center. Many thanks to our picnic sponsor: EnergySmart Institute.

The Spring Valley Park shelter house proved ideal for a comfortable day near the lake.

Ken Riead, HRES President, presided over the picnic with a gentle hand and bad jokes.

Emily Wolfe from the Metro Energy Center presented on new rebates and incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act.

The washer board game was a big hit.

Here are the solar panels that saved the day and our lunch! Thank you David Roberts!!
