I am a retired Chemical Engineer. I worked for Bayer Crop Science in Kansas City area for 28+ years and retired in 2008. I have been taking courses at Johnson County Community College since retirement. I received associate degrees in Energy Performance and Residential Management and Solar Technology from JCCC in 2015. I hope to have a Solar PV system installed this year. I am trying to reduce my carbon footprint by reducing my energy demand and by driving low emission autos. We currently have two hybrid vehicles and hope to replace one with an electric in the next few years.
I have been a part of four teams of JCCC students that Dan Eberle lead for the purpose of Installing homemade solar water heating systems in the Las Pintas community of Guadalajara, Mexico.
I have been a less than active member of HRES for a number of years, but with the new administration and the current CO2 levels being near or above 405 ppm, up from 280 ppm near the start of the industrial revolution. It is time to do something. I would like to start by advocating for more area solar energy installation whether it be local installations, community installations, or lobbying KCP&L to install solar farms. Since KCP&L has installed so many EV charging stations I would also advocate for more Electric Vehicles.
