HRES Board Member David Roberts Presents on the Innovative Tours Offered at the 2023 ASES Conference

David took advantage of the tours offered during the 2023 American Solar Energy Society (ASES) Conference in Boulder, Colorado.

These tours included:

The first tour was of Jacks Solar Garden that shows solar can co-exist with agriculture.  Jacks Solar Garden features solar panels with hay and vegetable production. Others rural solar farms use solar panels with various animals grazing. Solar agriculture projects like Jacks showcase how community and utility grade solar projects can co-exist with agriculture.

The Rocky Mountain Institute help sponsor a net zero commercial office buildings in Boulder. The buildings featured high insulation construction, solar PV panels , day-lighting, and healthy building features.  Striving for new zero performance.

 Another innovative offering was a 1981 passive solar home that has been upgraded over the years to highlight large number of solar and energy efficiency products and features. The owners have a large hands-on educational display that highlights a number of features in this project.
