We are living through a major transition in our power grid.  Find out what this means on Sunday, December 2, 11:00 am at All Souls Church.

We are currently at the beginning of a major transition of how electric utilities operate, where our electricity will come from, and how we receive it. The genesis of this transition results from the introduction of renewable energy into our electrical grid, particularly solar energy. Eventually, we will find our electrical grid to be decentralized rather than the highly centralized distribution system we currently have.

But now, utilities and solar advocates are at loggerheads for how solar energy providers, be they large or small, will be charged for being able to “access” the electrical grid in order to be paid for their excess power as well as their access to the grid when additional power is needed.

Bob Solger of the Solar Design Studio will walk us through this current mine field and give us his opinion as to what makes sense as we move into our new energy future. Bob is a long time energy expert in our region and began his energy journey as founder and owner of The Energy Savings Store. Upon the sale of his store, Bob founded The Solar Design Studio, an international firm that specializes in photovoltaic (PV) design, consulting, financing, and engineering.
